Sports Education Victoria

Sport Education Victoria supports Victorian State Sporting Associations and Victorian based National Sporting Organisations in the development and delivery of quality coaching, official and administrator education.  Sport Education Victoria achieves this by providing assistance to sporting organisations in developing and implementing short and long term education program strategies, in line with national policies.

In 2007, Christopher Shen Consulting was engaged by Sports Education Victoria to create the SportScope Profiler - an innovative tool to increase volunteerism in officiating, coaching, and administration of grass roots sport.

Christopher Shen Consulting developed and substantiated an instrument that identified the roles to which volunteers would be most likely suited.  Specifically, this instrument explored the underlying motives, preferences, and inclinations of respondents - and indeed uncovers characteristics that individuals do not even recognise in themselves but nevertheless affects their enjoyment and motivation in various roles. 

After respondents complete this instrument they receive a report that specifies whether they are suited to a role as a referee, official, or coach.  This report also stipulates some activities or behaviours these respondents could undertake to enhance their motivation and performance in recreational, vocational, and social settings.

Sport Education Victoria is confident that the SportScope Profiler will enhance and increase the participation of volunteers in Victorian sport.
